Please put your travel suggestions/tips/advice in the comments or shoot them to me in an email. And I am definitely interested in hearing from any friends or loved ones who have local contacts or places to stay. Thanks!
Hey Corey, I'm completely envious and so excited for you! I see that you'll be heading to Scandanavia (good choice!)...I should be able to make some recommendations and hopefully provide you with a good contact in Helsinki and maybe Oulu Finland. I'll let you know. Robin

Corey! I'm so jealous!! I wish I had the money to travel with you! We could have so much fun! I see you are going to Spain for 5 weeks... be sure to go to Granada for Semana Santa (Holy Week!) They have the most amazing processions and it's so indicative of the culture. Be sure to hit up the Alhambra and the Catedral de Granada. Queen Isabel and Ferdinand's tombs are in the Cathedral. I did a semester abroad in Granada and absolutely loved it!
Also, Dia De La Cruz which is in the first part of May is really awesome! Everyone puts on Sevillanas Dresses and dances. Also, around the same time they have a huge festival in Sevilla. Everyone dresses up in brightly colored clothes and it's like the State Fair!
The south of Spain is what people typically think of when they think of Spain. The culture is so rich and alive and you picked a good time to go! Have fun!

As you travel toward Russia, plan a stop at Tallinn, Estonia. This town will remind you of times past. Great history, beautiful buildings and great street appeal. This is one of Europes hiden treasures.

I really want to do something like that, and yes, I wish to win the lottery to have enough money. Well here is my recommendation for South America:
Venezuela: Canaima, Angel Fall (the tallest in the world) in Bolivar State, Los Roques Archipielag, and Margarita Island.
Colombia: Cartagena de Indias (the wall city) in the Caribbean coast.
Ecuador: Galapagos Island
Peru: Nasca Lines (South), Machu Pichu, Cusco, Lima.
Chile: La Patagonia, Easter Island. Santiago de Chile.
Argentina: La Patagonia, Buenos Aires.
Argentina-Brasil: Iguazu Falls
Brasil: Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro.
If you decide to travel to the Andes Mountains (Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia) be careful with two things: In COl, ECU and PER with the Guerrilla and Para-militares. Also, especially in Bolivia, with the "mal de paramo o de alturas" which mean that becuase is to high you may present symptoms like headache, vomit, nauseas, short breathing, so the best is take a coca tea, mate tea, frailejon tea, whatever the local people offer you in order to don't suffer to much.
ALways pay attention to the pick pockett, can be children, be aware when a lot of people be around you.
Bring your own sun blocker. Summer in the South is opposite than in the North (Christmas is Celebrate in the beach in mostly southamerican countries).
Good luck and enjoy it!!
